Blackfield Festival 2015

Three weeks ago I spent my weekend at the very last Blackfield Festival. It really is a shame that this beautyfull festival at the amphitheatere rigt beside the canal will not be able to be held next year due to financial reasons. For eight years now it has grown to be one of Germanies most famous Gothic Festivals only to come to an end because things like the rent for the venue or the fulfillment ofsafety regulations cost too much money.
Anyway, my boyfriend and me had a blast at Blackfield and I wanted to share some of the pictures me and a few friends took over the weekend with you.

This was our friday attire. I will put up a second blog post with more detailed outfit and make up info. But let's just say that we had a  lot of fun dressing up an showing off our collection of contact lenses.

You may notice that the haircolour of my bf chanced rather quickly here. Some of our friends said that red would be a much better contrast to my blue hair that violet. So my bf accepted the challenge and dyed his hair red for saturday and sunday. It also went much better with his red "volturi" lenses I bought him for chrismas last year because he would not buy them himself due to twilight issues:)

It was so incredibly hot that I'm actually quite impressed with how well my make up lasted on me these three days. Except some minor touch ups I didn't notice any serious smudges or stuff like that even though I did a lot of dancing and walking, eating and also a good amount of drinking.

In genereal the line up wasn't my most favourite one but it was a good mix of Electro-, Wave- and Gothic Rock-Music that included something for anybody. Some of my favourites were: Deine Lakaien -although a lot of people thought the songs of  those two dark wave heroes were a bit to slow for a evening slot-, .com/kill because Adrian Hastes basslines are simply amazing, and of course Project Pitchfork because there's no better headliner (for a medium-sized festival at least).

In general I didn't take too many pictures at all because I was too busy having the best time with bunch of friends (a lot of which fortunately werent as lazy with taking pictures as I was). I hope you enjoyed having a look at my festival impressions anyway. Next will be a more detailed post on the make up I wore during this weekend.

A Teeny Tiny Photoshoot

So it has been some time since I last put up a blog post. Unfortunately I have been quite busy with work lately so that I haven't had time to put up some pictures of a photoshoot I was asked to do the make up for. It was nothing big really, just a casual and fun shooting in a friends amazing cellar. The event was vampire-themend and everybody on the shoot put so much effort into making everything look as realistic as possible - as far as vampires can look realistic-. They had amazing handmade decorations like tombstones, skulls and even a huge painted piece of canvas for the background. I was extremely flatterd as I heard that they wanted me to do the make up and kinda nervous as well since I didn't want to screw it up. But I think in addition to everyone at the set having a great time the pictures also turned out super good.

Doesn't the artwork in the background look just fabulous? I think they did a pretty good job at transferring what was originally an A4-sized Picture onto a huge piece of canvas.
During the shoot I was asked to step in as a vampire-huntress so there's a lot of pictures of me with a stake in my hand.

But as you can see the lovely vampire ladies got some chances for payback. All the models were great to work with and the overall atmosphere on the set was lovely and so chilled out.

As you can see we had quite a few photographers working for us that day. Some of them will be linked below so you can check out some ouf their work.
I'm very pleased with the way the pictures tuned out. When doing the make up I tried to take everyones wishes and personality into account to craete many indivudual characters for the shoot. I'd love to do some extreme make up like this again. It was so cool to see these ladies transform all into a different kind of vampire.

Playing with Colours

Last night I had a little play around with some of the eyeshadows lying hidden in the very corners of my make up storage.
Usually I opt for different variations of black shadow or liner for my eye make up with the occasional white highlight.
But since I do like my eyes to look extravagant most of the time - and especially when I go on a night-out - and there's only so much variation you can achieve with one colour and different shades of grey I recently started to be more experimentive when it comes to colour.
With one half of my head dyed ultramarine my "colourful" weapon of choice is any shade of blue.

This is the look I came up with last night. Of course it's not for everyday and I know that some people wouldn't even go for something bold like this for a party or club night. I however like to stand out and to alwys come up with new looks to play around with.

My base is my go-to combination of Stargazer liquid foundation and powder to achieve the super white skin I don't actually have.
I started of with a basic big black wing on my lids dragging the lines out on my inner and outer corners. Before I went in with the Maybelline  colour tattoo 24hr in ""Everlasting Navy" I used a black kohl liner to give my eyebrows a bit of an edge. Then put on the lines on my cheeks and temples, blended it out a bit and set everthing with blue shadow. You don't neccesarily need to set this cream shadow however. It actually does last pretty much 24 hours even when you're out dancing. On my lips I got Lime Crime's "Styletto" which I love almost as much as their velvetine in "Black Velvet".

The second picture of the details unfortunately was shot in crappy lighting so that the coulours don't show at all...
I definitely would wear this look out for the night once I find the perfect shade of blue contacts to make it complete.

Review: ZOEVA Brushes

A few weeks ago I finally ordered my first ever Zoeva brushes and waited keenly for
them to arrive which happend pretty quickly within 2-3 days.

I've been wanting to try out some of their brushes for a long time but until recently somehow never got around to actually ordering them.
As I've used the three brushes I ordered pretty consistently since I got them I now wanted to share my thoughts on them.

223 Petit Eye Blender

As the name suggests this small blending brush is brilliant for more precise blending work.
The bristles are rather tightly bound which gives lots of control especially if you are blending
out shadow in smaller areas. You have to use it pretty lighthanded though because due to
its density you can also "overblend" quite quickly without actually creating a smooth
transition.

226 Smudger

The small flat brush is great for applying cream shadow and loose eyeshadow or pigments.
I also like to use it to smudge eyeliner or to press shadow directly onto the lashline. It is also great for cut crease make up looks.

230 LUXE Pencil

The pencil brush is the only one I am not a hundred per cent pleased with. I don't know if
it's just the combination of synthetic and natural hair that doesn't work for me.
But although it works wonderfully at applying eyeshadow precisely in the crease or
the inner corner of the eye it doesn't do such a great job at blending the colours
out smoothly.

To conclude I'm very pleased with these brushes and think they definitly live up to the
hype around Zoeva products. In my opinion they are a great addition to any
make up bag and I can't wait to try out more of their brushes.

And so it begins

Heya
As this is going to be my introductionary post this should probably be a description of me, what I do etc.
Well I'm going to just dive in at the deep end and see how it goes from there. Then I might tell you a little bit about myself later on

So this post is going to be a make up and outfit of the evening from last weekend when I dressed up for a nightout with my love

A lot of people told me that I ressembled Kiss or the joker but I think it goes actually very
well with the ripped top.

The white manson lenses give the outfit a (zombie) apocalypse look which I quite like.
The make up is rather simple, the black eyeshadow on my lid is just blended upwards and downwards with a black maybelline color tattoo as a base so it doesn't budge. The foundation is a mix of leftover astor mattitude and good old stargazer foundation and lime crime velvetine in "black velvet" on my lips.
So this is it for my first post, next one is going to be a review of my first ever ZOEVA brushes.
